The manuals for each pistol explain the proper engagement of the safety. Reading the manual carefully is always advised when first owning ANY gun.I called Ruger today to check on the status of my Security 9. They said that the tech ran 60 rounds through it and didn't experience the problem of the last round remaining in the magazine with the slide locked open.
