There are two main groups in FSY: counselor groups and companies. Counselor groups consist of approximately 10 youth and 1 counselor of the same sex. Companies typically consist of 2 or 3 (male and female) counselor groups. Counselor groups and companies are formed by age groups.

For youth who attend a virtual FSY session, wards and branches will pay the ward/branch fee of $75 USD/$100 CAD. There is no participant/youth fee, nor do wards and branches need to cover the participant fee. The two virtual FSY sessions in 2024 are available for the U.S. and Canada only.
